Care Journey

Before making a commitment

Six things to confirm before deciding on medical travel to China

Use this overview to find the detailed guidance most relevant to your decision.

  1. Hospital acceptance

Acceptance, review, and scheduling are decided by the hospital.

    See hospital review
  2. Clinical responsibility

Diagnosis, treatment plans, and every clinical decision remain with licensed hospitals and physicians.

    Understand responsibilities
  3. Quality and safety

Check the department, physician focus, international services, official information, and case-specific fit—not reputation alone.

    Review medical resources
  4. Complications and continuity of care

Confirm emergency and complication arrangements before travel, then organize records and follow-up before returning home.

    Plan continuity of care
  5. Total cost and insurance

Budget separately for hospital care, Huorio services, travel, insurance, and unexpected expenses.

    Review costs and insurance
  6. Visa, entry, and travel

Check visa and entry requirements for your passport and keep travel bookings flexible.

How it works

Five stages, fully explained

The sequence follows the patient journey.
Availability and timing depend on the hospital and your individual circumstances.

  1. 01

    BEFORE TRAVEL

    Start with an inquiry

Share your contact details, preferred timing, and a brief description of the support you seek. We explain the service scope and next steps. If a hospital needs records, we direct you to an approved secure channel rather than the public website.

    • Confirm contact preferences and goals
    • Discuss timing, city, and practical needs
    • Explain our role and the secure document process
    • Agree on the next step without commitment
  2. 02

    BEFORE TRAVEL

    Explore a hospital pathway

With your permission, we contact relevant departments and help organize questions for the hospital. The hospital independently decides whether it can review or accept the case, which clinical options may apply, and what it can confirm in writing. Before committing to travel, keep bookings flexible, discuss fitness to travel and return-home follow-up with your clinician in your home country, and ask the hospital about expected timing, stay, and recovery.

    • Shortlist hospitals by department and practical fit
    • Coordinate provider-led review or remote consultation
    • Explain acceptance, rejection, or scheduling changes
    • Separate hospital estimates from Huorio service fees
  3. 03

    IN CHINA

    Arrive with a clear plan

Once arrangements are confirmed, we coordinate airport pickup, local transport, accommodation, and the first hospital visit. We can help with practical setup and request suitable room arrangements, subject to availability and hospital approval.

    • Airport greeting and local transfers
    • Hotel check-in and neighborhood orientation
    • Phone and payment setup guidance when needed
    • A briefing before the first appointment
  4. 04

    IN CHINA

    Navigate hospital visits

A bilingual coordinator can accompany scheduled visits, help with registration and clinic navigation, interpret practical conversations, and organize receipts or documents. Keep the treating-hospital contact, local emergency route, insurer details, medication list, and any transfer arrangements accessible to the patient and family. The hospital and its clinicians remain responsible for diagnosis, treatment, and medical charges.

    • Appointment and department navigation
    • On-site interpretation and question tracking
    • Help with laboratory, pharmacy, and billing steps
    • Family updates with the patient’s consent
    • Keep emergency and complication contacts accessible
  5. 05

    AFTER CARE

    Organize records and follow-up

Before you return home, we help request available discharge documents, imaging or test results, medication instructions, warning signs, and follow-up guidance; coordinate agreed English translations; and identify the hospital contact for questions or complications. With your permission, available materials can be organized for your clinician in your home country so you can confirm who will manage follow-up. Huorio cannot promise that a clinician will accept follow-up care.

    • Request available discharge records and receipts
    • Coordinate selected English translations
    • Confirm medication, complication, and follow-up contacts
    • Prepare a handoff pack for your home-country care team

Travel readiness

Verify current requirements for your own case

Visa, entry, medication, payment, and travel rules can change. Huorio will support you throughout the preparations and arrangements needed for medical travel to China.

Visa and entry

Requirements depend on nationality, passport, purpose, and individual circumstances. Verify the applicable Chinese embassy or consulate guidance before booking; Huorio does not determine visa eligibility.

Medication and medical devices

Ask your physician what you must carry, then confirm current entry rules for medicines and devices. Keep prescriptions, supporting letters, and original packaging when required.

Hospital payment

Before care, ask the hospital to confirm any deposit, accepted payment methods, the authorized payment recipient, refund conditions, and which services are excluded.

Phone, internet, and transport

Plan mobile access, essential apps, airport and hospital transport, and a backup way to reach the coordinator and family.

Family and accessibility

Confirm companion documents, hospital visitor rules, lodging, mobility support, dietary needs, and how family updates will be shared with the patient’s consent.

Important

This page explains a verification process, not a visa conclusion. Visa issuance, entry, extension, medication admission, and hospital acceptance are decided by the relevant authorities and providers for each case.

Practical answers

Frequently asked questions

When should I contact Huorio?

Contact us before buying non-refundable tickets, booking accommodation, or making a firm care commitment. Starting early leaves more time to understand your goals, check whether a hospital may review the case, and identify documentation and travel constraints.

How long does it usually take to receive a hospital response?

There is no fixed response time. It depends on the department, physician availability, completeness of the information, and case complexity. Huorio can follow up and relay updates, but cannot guarantee a response or appointment date.

Can I compare more than one hospital or city?

Within the agreed service scope, we can help organize practical comparisons involving relevant departments, case acceptance, international services, timing, and travel feasibility. Clinical suitability and treatment choices must be confirmed by licensed hospitals and physicians.

Can I request a specific physician or appointment date?

We can submit the request, but only the hospital can confirm the physician, date, and care pathway. Availability, case acceptance, operating schedules, and clinical priorities may change, so avoid non-refundable bookings until written arrangements are clear.

Should I book flights and accommodation before the hospital confirms?

Usually not. Keep plans flexible until the hospital has clarified whether it can review or accept the case, the expected visit window, and the likely length of stay. If an early reservation is necessary, choose changeable or refundable terms.

What happens if the physician, schedule, or care plan changes?

We will explain the update, help organize questions, and coordinate agreed appointment or travel adjustments. Clinical changes remain the provider’s decision, while cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling follow the applicable written terms.

How precise can the budget be before travel?

Planning should separate the hospital estimate, Huorio service fee, travel and third-party expenses, and a contingency reserve. Final medical charges may change because of additional tests, complications, treatment changes, or length of stay, so confirm the payee and included and excluded items in writing.

Can mobility, dietary, room, or companion needs be arranged in advance?

Tell us as early as possible. We can coordinate requests involving mobility support, dietary needs, room type, companion arrangements, and local transport, subject to hospital rules, provider availability, and approval.

What should I do if an emergency or complication occurs in China?

Contact local emergency services or the treating hospital immediately. Huorio can assist with nonclinical communication and practical coordination when available, but does not provide emergency care, diagnosis, or medical decisions.

Which countries or regions does Huorio serve?

Huorio serves patients worldwide. However, visa rules, insurance, payment methods, medical record formats, and follow-up arrangements after returning home vary by country or region. Applicable official guidance and practical arrangements therefore need to be checked based on each patient’s circumstances. If there are any special circumstances, please tell Huorio in advance.
